Downtown Grand Rapids enjoys an abundance of successful special events and cultural institutions that make downtown fun, diverse and unique. The Framework Plan recommends that the DDA work with its civic partners to support the overall downtown experience through strategic investments in public safety, marketing and events. Specific recommendations include:
Clean and Safe
· A clean and safe environment is fundamental to making downtown welcoming. Enhancements to city
and BID efforts to keep downtown safe are recommended, with a focus on the south Division corridor.
Arts and Culture
· Support destination marketing efforts that aim to attract regional consumers to downtown.
Events and Programming
· Support special events and programming that celebrate Grand Rapids’ diversity and entrepreneurial
spirit.
