    Construction Schedule

    September - November 2017

    The project will:
    •  install new water main, including directional drilling to connect to Riverside Drive

    •  reconstruct the street and narrow the road by 3 feet.

    •  upgrade sidewalks and ramps to be compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

    • ​install green infrastructure such as infiltration basins to retain and soak stormwater into the ground to filter pollutants and reduce runoff entering natural bodies of water.

    Construction Information
    Street Reconstruction
    • The streets’ full width will be reconstructed, including curb and gutter.
    Water Main
    •  The water main and, if needed and authorized by property owners, existing water service lines into houses or buildings will be replaced.
    •  Typically, there will be two water shutdowns: once when the new main is placed in service (4 to 8 hours) and another to connect individual water services for each property to the new main (2 to 4 hours). There may be a third shut down to complete the final main switch. The contractor will provide notice 24 hours in advance. Occasionally, a water main may accidentally break during construction. If this should happen, there will not be notification, but repairs will be made as quickly as possible to restore service.
    •  Following a water shutdown, calcified deposits may be dislodged by water pressure once the system is turned back on. Please run outside faucets first and then the faucets in all sinks to clear the lines. If some faucets are running slowly, it may be necessary to check the screens and clean off any debris.
    Storm Sewer
    • Only minor storm sewer upgrades will occur near the catch basins.
    Driveway Approaches and Sidewalks
    •  All drive approaches and sidewalk squares will be replaced. Affected residents will not have access to their driveways for 5-7 days while the work is completed and the concrete cures. The contractor will coordinate with those affected in advance.
    •  Driveway access may not be available when road work is directly in front of a driveway.
    Parkways and Street Trees
    • Sidewalk, curb, and drive approach work may disturb the parkway (the area between curb and sidewalk). Should this happen, the area will be restored with grass.
    •  Property owners should remove plants, landscaping, etc. they want to save prior to the start of construction.
    •  Property owners who have a sprinkler system are asked to mark their sprinkler heads with flags, sticks, or spray paint. Sprinklers that are broken during construction will be repaired.
    •  Some street trees may be removed as they would be adversely impacted by the planned excavation or infrastructure work. In these cases, the work would damage the tree’s feeder and structural roots and not only cause tree decline but impact the tree’s stability, which could be detrimental in high wind events.
    •  The Forestry Division may plant new street trees after project completion.
    Access, Parking, and Detour Route
    •  Resident and emergency vehicle access will be maintained.
    •  No parking will be allowed on the street during construction hours.
    Other Items
    •  Recycling and refuse will be maintained but bins must be placed in their normal spots the night before collection day. Failing to do so may result in a missed collection. When trucks cannot access the street due to construction, the contractor will move the bins to where they can be emptied and return them.
    •  Mail delivery will be maintained.
    •  Typical construction hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Occasionally, work may be done on Sunday. Work hours are dependent on weather and the contractor’s schedule.
