Eastside Sewer Improvements Program Separation Project Contract # 20

Donald Place (Wealthy to north end), Robey Place (Wealthy to north end), Freyling Place (Wealthy to north end), Calkins Avenue (Wealthy to Fairmount), Visser Place (Wealthy to north end), McKinley Court (west end to Fuller),  Carroll Avenue (Fairmount to Chester), Fairmount Street (Carroll to Calkins)

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE - JULY 13, 2010

Public Neighborhood Meeting

The final project design has been completed for this sanitary/storm sewer separation project which includes the streets in the limits listed above. The project will be bid soon with construction to start this summer. Please join us for a public neighborhood meeting at which project staff will provide information about the work to be completed, proposed schedule, access during construction, and answer questions that you may have. A brief summary of the project is included below for your information.

                MEETING DATE/TIME:              WEDNESDAY, JULY 21, 2010 – 6:00 P.M.

                LOCATION:                               WEALTHY THEATRE ANNEX, 1110 WEALTHY ST SE

Scope of Work:

• Storm sewer - 12” diameter (all streets)

• Sanitary sewer - 8” diameter with new laterals to property line on McKinley, Carroll, and Fairmount

• The existing sanitary sewer on Donald, Robey, Freyling, Calkins, and Visser will be lined

• Water main - 6” with new services to property line (all streets)

• Tree Removal (dead, damaged or those in conflict with construction) and replanting

• Street reconstruction

• Sidewalk

o Carroll and Fairmount: replace as needed for construction

o Donald, Robey, Freyling, Calkins, Visser: all sidewalk to be replaced

o ADA ramps will be placed at all intersections

• Alley connections (16’ wide) will be installed at the north end from Donald to Robey and Robey to Freyling

Private Utility Work:

• DTE has already worked in some streets to relocate existing gas main – they plan to update their facilities in Freyling, Calkins, Visser, McKinley, and Fairmount.

Geometrics:

• Entire road, including curb, gutter, and drive approaches to be replaced

• Road widths will remain the same

• Donald, Robey, Freyling, Calkins, Visser, and McKinley will be paved with concrete and Carroll and Fairmount will be paved with asphalt
