Academics and Homework
Using disguised learning and hands-on projects, we provide academicsupport that corresponds to school-day education with a goal of increasing studentachievement, participation and attendance in their regular school-day classes. In addition, we provide regular homework help time. Throughout the summer, we offer an incentive-based reading program, partnering with the Grand Rapids Public Library for tours and library cards. Kids read and get the chance to win a bicycle. Also, special thanks to the MC Sports for contributing the essential bike helmets to ensure safe riding!
Enrichment and Life Skills
Triple R has always recognized that it is critical for youth to discover their strengths and talents early in life and have the self-confidence to achieve their goals later in life. For that reason, we emphasize life-skills and character education curriculum. We also offer classes and activities that stress the arts, community service, team-building, leadership, goal-setting and reflection. Field trips are also offered to participants for exposure to their community and various cultures.
Recreation and Fitness
Not only are our fitness and recreational activities fun, they also teach a variety of team-building skills, proper nutrition and physical education to reduce the risks associated with the recent increase in childhood obesity. Some of the activities we offer include basketball, soccer, baseball, track, aerobics, dance, swimming and a wide variety of recreational games.
Triple R has been offering youth programming throughout the City of Grand Rapids since 1992. Since its inception, the program has evolved from a purely recreation-based focus to a comprehensive youth development program. All of our programs now incorporate academics, character education, arts, service learning and of course recreation and fitness.
